What is a new tab bookmark manager?
It puts your saved bookmarks on the page you see every time you open a tab, instead of leaving them in the favorites menu. Pikamark does this in Edge: your favorites folders become draggable columns (a board) or a gallery of tiles, with notes, favorites and color labels beside them.
Why does Edge turn it off after install, and how do I turn it back on?
Edge automatically disables any extension that overrides the new-tab page, once, right after install. It is a safety check, not a problem with Pikamark. To turn it back on:
- Open
edge://extensionsin a new tab. - Find Pikamark in the list.
- Switch it on.
If your new tab still is not Pikamark, go to Settings → Start, home, and new tabs and set it to open Pikamark. The step-by-step guide on the support page has the details.
How do I set one up in Edge?
Install Pikamark from Microsoft Edge Add-ons with the button at the end of this page, then switch it back on as above. Your existing favorites appear at once, because there is nothing to import. Press F on any new tab to open the command palette and jump to a bookmark by name.
How does it compare with Edge’s built-in favorites manager?
Pikamark does not replace the built-in manager. It is a different way to look at the same favorites:
| Pikamark | Edge’s built-in manager | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you see it | On every new tab | On its own page, or in the favorites bar |
| Layout | Board of columns or tile gallery | A list of folders |
| Notes, favorites, color labels | Yes, beside your folders | No |
| Jump to a bookmark | Command palette (press F) | Search box inside the manager |
| Account | None | Microsoft sign-in, only to sync favorites |
Is it free, and does it need an account?
The core is free for good, with no account, no item caps and no ads: board and gallery, notes, search, favorites, color labels, and light and dark themes with five accents. Pro is optional and adds tags, comments and reminders, workspaces, pinned links, backgrounds and automatic backups: $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once, with a 14-day trial and no card. The full comparison is on the Pricing page.
Does it send my bookmarks anywhere?
No. Your bookmarks, notes and tags never leave your device, and the extension has no analytics or tracking. The only network call is the Pro license check, made if you activate a license. The Privacy policy explains each permission.
